Valorization of the natural history collections and naturalistic expeditions fot the conservation and managment of deep environment. The unique case of the Tropical Deep Sea Benthos Program
My research focuses on different types of deep-sea environments, where I am interested in biodiversity patterns at the macroecological scale and fisheries. I have a varied background consisting of marine biology, oceanography and geosciences and enjoy crossing boundaries between them.Throughout my PhD I have gained experience working with imagery data acquired from ROVs and AUVs and integrating quantitative ecological methods with techniques employed in deep-sea habitat mapping.
Currently I am working on the Tropical- Deep Sea Benthos programme, where I am aiming to understand the biogeographical patterns in the deep Indo-Pacific Ocean by using different bioregionalisation methods and species distribution data. The results from my studies can hopefully then be applied in the management and conservation efforts within this region.
