The VArECH project focuses on study of the seaweed beachings on the Normandy coast and their possible uses. Beyond a good qualitative and quantitative knowledge of the seaweed stranded on the beaches of the town of Grandcamp – Maisy, the project should enable to propose opportunities of exploiting the raw material represented by seaweed beachings and thus to help the development of a new economic sector around this marine bio-resource.
This project is collaboration between the BOREA Macroalgae Research Group at the University of Caen and the R&D center of the company ALGAIA located in St Lô.
