Population genetics and ecology of the calcifying hydrozoan Millepora spp. (fire coral) from island reef systems: connectivity, ecological success, and resilience

The aim of this thesis project is to test the correlation between ecological success and genetic connectivity in populations of fire coral (Millepora spp.) in insular environments. Following DNA sequencing of samples and estimates of connectivity and ecological performance indexes of populations, statistical analyses will be carried out to verify the link between genetic connectivity and ecological success in three major regions: French Polynesia (Moorea), New Caledonia and the West Indies (Guadeloupe).
