| Abstract | X‐ray tomography shows that caniniform and molariform teeth of the gilthead sea bream, Sparus aurata, have a simplexodont plicidentine organization. Together with an insertion of the teeth in alveolae, and the presence of bony shafts sustaining the dental plate, the simplexodont plicidentine is linked to the durophagous diet of the fish. |
