Research Project
The main objective of my research year is to use environmental niche models to study changes in the distribution of zooplankton functional traits under different (more or less optimistic) climate change scenarios. I will then aim to quantify the impact of these changes on the biological carbon pump.

To achieve this, three objectives have been defined:

  • #1: Model the environmental niche of zooplankton functional traits using abundance data from the Continuous Plankton Recorder (CPR) Survey

  • #2: Investigate how the environmental niches of different zooplankton functional traits may evolve under various climate change scenarios

  • #3: Quantify the effects of changes in zooplankton functional niches on the biological carbon pump by linking modeled functional traits (e.g., size, trophic regime, diel vertical migration, etc.) to carbon export
