I work on the evolution of Pancrustaceans at different level of observation in order to understand the evolution of form or adaptation in this lineage. I work particularly in two aquatic lineages:
*Cirripeds
We compare in detail the morphology, anatomy and gene expression pattern of Cirripeds larva of the Sacculina carcini and Balanus amphitrite or Elmninius modestus. Our idea is to understand the apparition of the parasitism in the cirripeds. We focus particularly on the Rhizocephalan parasitism which is very spectacular.
*Branchiopods
The large Branchiopods (Anostaca, Notostraca, Spinicaudata, Laevicaudata) are emblematic of temporary pools. We study the taxonomy and the evolution in this group in different area of the world (Essentially in Neotropical area, Europe and Africa). The resting egg is a key innovation very important for the colonization of continental water. I investigate particularly the morphology and the anatomy of this structure which provided recently new tools in taxonomy of Limnadiids.
I teach in UPMC and MNHN the evolutive Biology from the cellular level to the ecosystem (L1 to M2).
