BIOSTEM project : Standardised BIOfouling for Materials TEsting
I'm working on the BIOSTEM project (Standardised BIOfouling for Materials TEsting), which runs from 2022 to 2025. The aim of this project is to develop innovative ageing and impact tests for current or innovative materials for the marine environment, incorporating the issue of biofouling. It will lead to development of a consortium of micro and macrofouling that are stable in a controlled environment, by determining early indicators of the establishment of communities of primary producers settle down submerged coatings in the marine environment.
Another objective of the BIOSTEM project will be to identify biomarkers of biofouling in order to develop future analyses that would enable earlier diagnosis of the risks of settle down of materials, before the visual stage of macrofouling. The search for tools (particularly imaging tools) should enable us to understand functional diversity and how it evolves during the settlement process.
