My research interests concern the study of fish reproduction in their physiological and morphological characteristics. During my career I focused my research in biological and physiological reproduction bases of tropical fish species and particularly those that are of economic interest.
I have therefore worked more specifically on control and induction of reproduction and larval rearing in several African and Amazonian catfish species interesting for fish farming. All my work lies therefore in the field of domestication of new species for tropical fish aquaculture.
The work is carried out mainly in experimental facilities and laboratory on different tropical species of economic interest.
This work is done in partnership with institutes or universities of the south and these studies are discussed in a multidisciplinary framework by combining the ecophysiological aspects, experimental work, population genetics and the study of life history traits in the natural environment of the selected species, either for human consumption or for the Aquariology industry. These later species are also a good source of income for the regions concerned and allow the sustainable exploitation local ichtyological diversity, as for example that which exists in the Peruvian Amazon.
The control of reproduction of these valuable species also allows the reduction of fishing pressure on wild fish populations and thus contributes to their preservation in the natural environment while offering new production activities for local populations.

Within the IRD team, in the context of the LMI EDIA (Evolution and Domestication of the Amazon Ichthyofauna) I am responsible for aspects related to the domestication of new species, including experimentation in the laboratory and in a controlled environment, the brood stock management, the hormonal induction of reproduction and aspects related to the rearing of juvenile stages (survival and Larval growth in particular). In Peru, I ensured the coordination of the cooperation agreement between IRD and UNFV-FOPCA for 6 years.
I insured functions of representative assistant of the IRD in Peru from 2009 to 2012.
