Environmental change impacts on phytoplankton: integrating ecological niche and functional trait approaches to study phytoplankton communities of the Seine Bay

Abstract

The objectif of the PhD project is to first understand and define the mechanisms influencing the spatio-temporal structure of the phytoplankton communities within the Bay of Seine through the exploration of the local networks’ datasets. Secondly, it will be to  determine the main functional groups and identify the relationship between the major group dynamics and the abiotic properties. Lastly, it will aim to describe the relationship between toxic blooms, environmental variabilities, such as the Seine river plume discharge, and the shellfish intoxication. The project will try to combine both the reality of the field observations over one or two year and the long term datasets that cover the last decade.
