Liquides Ioniques Polymérisables pour Revêtements Anticorrosion/Antisalissure

Description

This project aims to develop new anticorrosion and anti-biofilm coatings to protect metallic structures, from marine biopolymers and from Ionic liquid IL (salt constituted by organic cation and organic or inorganic anion). This interdisciplinary project is based on the collaboration for the first time between 3 groups recognized in their field of expertise: the synthesis of IL and the modification of natural polymers by the LCMT laboratory (Ensicaen-Unicaen, UMR 6507, https://www.lcmt.ensicaen.fr); the preparation and the characterization of coatings, the tests of corrosion, biocorrosion and aging of coatings by CORRODYS (http://www.corrodys.com) and the toxicity study of the coatings on the alive compartment by the BOREA laboratory (Unicaen, UMR 7208, http://borea.mnhn.fr). This multidisciplinary approach will allow developing new anticorrosion and antifouling coatings which could be more environment-friendly marine.

The results of this program eventually could be applied to civil applications such as petrochemistry, gas industries and the offshore wind energy, nuclear power or the civil shipbuilding. The waited improvements in terms of durability of the structures may increase their competitiveness on the international market. The use of more ecological processes is in adequacy with more drastic regulatory requirements (REACH) applied to protect the environment and go to the aim of sustainable development.
