The Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle (MNHN), in partnership with the Société Française d'Ichtyologie (SFI), the Union des Conservateurs d'Aquariums de France, and the Aquarium tropical de la Porte Dorée, is organizing a symposium to celebrate the 30th anniversary of FishBase and the 15th anniversary of SeaLifeBase. This event will be held on 6 and 7 September 2021 in Paris (France) at the Grande Galerie de l'Evolution of the MNHN.
This symposium will be an opportunity to illustrate different uses of FishBase and SeaLifeBase in the fields of ecology, biogeography, fisheries, taxonomy or aquariology. It will highlight the contribution of these two global information systems to the knowledge of biodiversity and the sustainable use of aquatic ecosystems. A special issue related to this event will be published in the journal Cybium, co-edited by Alexander Tilley (Senior Scientist, WorldFish, Vice-chair of the FishBase Consortium, http://www.worldfishcenter.org) and Fabrice Teletchea (University of Lorraine, Vice-chair of Q-quatics, https://www.q-quatics.org/). The deadline to send manuscript is September, 30th, 2021.
