PECHEKER
The MNHN Pecheker database
The Pecheker database enables the secure storage of all data from the commercial fisheries of fishing fleets operating in the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of the French Southern and Antarctic Lands, as well as in international waters in the CCAMLR and APSOI zones.
Data are collected by fisheries controllers on board the vessels, using at-sea acquisition protocols and tools developed by members of the BOREA laboratory. In addition to strictly fisheries data, fisheries inspectors record a large quantity of biological data produced as part of various research and observation protocols on fisheries interactions with the environment.
The Pecheker database encompasses all data collected since the creation of the EEZ in 1978, representing over 100,000 stations and 600 fishing campaigns.
Specific tools and statistical processing layers developed by our team on the database are designed to facilitate access and analysis. The system's interoperability is also a key issue, enabling it to contribute to the national fisheries observation network and the Atlas National des Pêcheries Françaises in collaboration with IFREMER, IRD and AgroCampus Rennes, under the supervision of the Direction des Pêches Maritime et de l'Aquaculure.
The data contained in Pecheker can be used within the framework of scientific partnerships subject to collaboration agreement.
