DévelOpPement de fERmes Algocoles en NormanDIe dans le cadre du plan des protéines végétales

Description

As a part of the development seaweed cultivation sector in Normandy, this OPERANDI program should promote the emergence of seaweed farms.  The objectives of this project will focus on the transfer of technologies for the cultivation of indigenous algae of economic interest, particularly those rich in proteins and on the design of a hatchery within farms designed for the cultivation of seaweed.

1. The first objective will allow the continuation of the experimental culture of the brown seaweed Saccharina latissima (TAONIA 2019-2020) with two significant points:

- the monitoring of the experimental longlines on two Normandy offshore sites, and
- the diversification of seaweed cultures in Normandy with the determination of cultivation methods. The protocols will require the control of culture parameters at all stages of algae development, from seed production to the production of algal biomass at sea.

2. The second objective will focus on the training and support of volunteer professionals in farming practices and on the sizing of a plantlet production unit in the context of the creation of seaweed farms.
