Prospective study for the design of an Integrated Multi Trophic Aquaculture system with the establishment of a co-culture Salmons / Seaweeds in Cherbourg Harbour (Manche, France)

Description

With the purpose of an aquaculture that respects the environment, the aim of this project SAUM’ALG is to develop the Integrated Multitrophic Aquaculture Salmon/Seaweed in Cherbourg Harbour by cultivating indigenous macroalgae of economic interest in the immediate vicinity of salmon cages.  This prospective study has 3 main components: elaboration of systems of seaweed cultivation suitable for IMTA, conduct of seaweed culture trials in Cherbourg Harbour and study of IMTA regulations in Normandy.
